Located in beautiful Vancouver, BC, Canada, Langara College started in 1965 as part of Vancouver Community College and in 1970, it opened its West 49th Avenue campus. On April 1, 1994, Langara College was established as an independent public college under the Provincial College and Institute Act.

Our post-secondary institution's story began in 1964, when our first group of students attended classes that fall. At that time, our institution was known as Red Deer College, or RDC.
In 2021, the Government of Alberta granted our institution approval to change our name and designation to now serve students and our communities as Red Deer Polytechnic.
Drake Medox College was created from the growing demand of health care employers (like our sister company Drake Medox Health Services) for Health Care Assistants to meet the needs of clients/residents not only in the facility sector but also in the home support and private home care sectors. Today there continues to emerge even greater demand to meet the needs of our aging population and aging workforce in either multilevel care environments or in their own homes. Since our inception we have gone on to develop Community Support Worker and Activity Assistant Diploma Programs.
